Professor Hirokazu Takahashi, MD, PhD, is President of the Liver Center at Saga University Hospital, Saga City, Japan, and Vice Director of the Division of Metabolism, Diabetes and Endocrinology in the Faculty of Medicine at Saga University. Professor Takahashi conducts basic research in hepatology as well as running clinical studies, and has published more than 190 articles and 10 book chapters. In 2019 Professor Takahashi’s work on biomarkers for MASLD was included in The Best of the Liver Meeting by the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases.
He was a research fellow of Joslin Diabetes Center of Harvard Medical School and his research interest includes metabolism of liver, skeletal muscle and adipose tissue, exercise and translational research of obesity/diabetes as well as MASLD. Dr. Takahashi is also working on educational activities with academic societies, local/national governments and pharmacies for physicians, medical workers and citizen. In order to develop the patients’ flow who has MASLD. Dr. Takahashi is trying to spread the utility of noninvasive tests for the evaluation for liver fibrosis. Dr. Takahashi is member of AASLD, ADA and Japanese certification board of Hepatology, Gastroenterology, Diabetes, Ultrasonics in Medicine.
