Biography
Dr. Nilesh Bhatt is qualified as a Medical Doctor by Eduardo Mondlane University, Mozambique, has a master’s in medicine (STD-HIV/AIDS) by the University of Sydney, Australia, and a Doctor of Health Sciences (Infectious Diseases) by the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation, Brazil. Dr. Bhatt previously served as General Director of the Polana Caniço Health Research and Training Center (CISPOC), a research center of the Instituto Nacional de Saúde (INS) of Mozambique. Dr. Bhatt started with Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation in 2018 as the Research Director for Mozambique and later joined the EGPAF Global Research team as the Director of Clinical Research in 2021. With 23 years’ experience in ID research and clinical care in Africa, Dr. Bhatt work continues to focus on the diagnosis and treatment of HIV and tuberculosis. As a researcher, Dr. Bhatt has led HIV/TB therapeutic trials, TB diagnostics and COVID-19 studies in sub-Saharan Africa. Dr. Bhatt has co-authored several scientific publications in peer review journals and has been mentoring students enrolled in academic training programs at the master's and PhD level, in national and international academic institutions.
