Dr. Anna Koval currently works as a scientific worker at the outpatient department for infectious diseases and virus hepatitis at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (Germany). Starting from 2023 she has been a WAVE (Women living with HIV in Europe) Focal Point of Standards of Care of EACS (European AIDS Clinical Society) and a member of EACS starting from 2015. In the period 2021-2022, she worked as the Chief Specialist in Management and Counteraction to HIV Infection in the Public Health Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. Her main field of responsibility was the implementation of PrEP in each of the 25 regions of Ukraine.
Dr. Koval was cooperating with non-governmental organizations (LGBTQ+, for people who use injectable drugs, for people who exchange sex for other goods) also with infectious diseases doctors all over Ukraine to implement and propagate PrEP. After the full-scale Russian invasion, she moved to Germany. At her current work at the University Medical Center, she works with Ukrainian patients who live with HIV as well as participates in scientific projects.
