Annette Haberl (AH) is a medical doctor and researcher specialized in HIV medicine. She started working in the field of HIV in 1996, implementing an interdisciplinary approach for intravenous drug users living with HIV and introducing the first once daily antiretroviral regimen. Since 1998 she runs a specialized unit for women living with HIV at the HIVCENTER of the Hospital of the Johann Wolfgang-University Frankfurt. Her research focus is on sex and gender specific issues in HIV care. AH is principal investigator of the German pregnancy registry and chair of the annual German congress on HIV and pregnancy. She is a board member of the German AIDS-society (DAIG) and co-chair of the German-Austrian pregnancy guidelines panel. She is vice-chair of the EACS working group Women Against Viruses in Europe (WAVE).
