David Burger (20 October 1964) received his pharmacy degree from Utrecht University in 1990. He completed his dissertation entitled “Bio-analysis and clinical pharmacokinetics of antiretroviral agents in HIV-infected individuals” at the Slotervaart hospital' in Amsterdam in 1994. After this he moved to Radboudumc in Nijmegen to be trained as a hospital pharmacist.
Since 1997, he has been leading a research group with a focus on the clinical pharmacology of antivirals, in particular HIV.
He was Section Editor of the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology until 2021. He is currently on the editorial boards of TDM, JAIDS, JAC and Antiviral Therapy.
Since April 2011, he has been appointed professor of Clinical Pharmacy at Radboud University Nijmegen. He is the (co-)author of more than 550 scientific publications and has supervised more than 40 PhD students with their dissertations.
In 2022 he co-founded GlobalDDISolutions of which he is scientific director
His main areas of interest are drug-drug interactions, pediatric pharmacology, therapeutic drug monitoring, and research in developing countries.
