Dominique Salmon, MD, PhD

Biography

Dr. Dominique Salmon is an Infectious and Tropical Diseases Professor at Paris Descartes University in France.

Her clinical sub-specialties include HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis, bone and joint infections, and antimicrobial stewardship. Since 2020, she has been primarily focused on long COVID.

Dr. Salmon coordinates an outpatient management platform for patients with prolonged manifestations of long COVID and works in partnership with several research units conducting clinical studies on the pathophysiology of long COVID.

She also coordinates the expert group at the French National Authority for Health (HAS) involved in the national care recommendations for people diagnosed with long COVID.

Dr. Salmon is a member of numerous scientific committees and research projects. She is currently the principal investigator of the French national prospective cohort of people living with HIV and hepatitis C.

Her research has developed over the years, from parasitic infections to opportunistic infections and HIV vaccine trials.

Since 2020, Dr. Salmon’s research priority has been investing in COVID - in particular, long COVID - to better understand the pathophysiology of this new entity and manage people diagnosed with the disease. She has set up a prospective cohort of patients with prolonged forms of COVID and several collaborations with fundamental researchers at the Pasteur Institute and Inserm.
