Since 2015, Kota Iwahashi has been serving as the Chairman of the NPO akta, which operates a community center dedicated to HIV and STI prevention in Shinjuku Ni-chome, the largest LGBTQ+ district in Asia. He has led projects aimed at enhancing sexual health, particularly focusing on HIV prevention and support for MSM residing in the Tokyo metropolitan area. Since 2007, he has participated in the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare’s research team on HIV infection prevention, collaborating with communities, NPOs, government bodies, medical institutions, and international research organizations. He has also coordinated measures specifically for MSM. In 2024, he will assume the role of Chairman for the 38th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for AIDS Research. Academically, he has completed the coursework for a PhD in Sociology at Keio University and holds a Master’s degree in Public Health from Teikyo University.
