Biography

Dr. Lucia Chambal, Internal Medicine Specialist, Master in Infectious Diseases, PhD student in Biosciences focusing on HIV and Hepatitis B Co-Infection. She works as a clinical assistant at Medicine Department in Maputo Central Hospital and as Assistant Professor at Faculty of Medicine at Eduardo Mondlane University and ISCTEM. She is part of the National Anti-Retroviral Committee, which responsible for the creation of national policies on HIV prevention and treatment, participated in the WHO Technical Group of Guidelines for Managing Advanced HIV Disease. Dr. Chambal is now conducting a cohort study in HIV/HBV co-infection in Maputo City as the Principal Investigator and have participated as co-investigator in clinical research and clinical trials in Hepatitis B, Tuberculosis, HIV and studies on effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines. She is also part of the Drug Surveillance Committee and Chronic Hepatitis Technical Group. She participated in the COVID-19 country response, as the Director of the main COVID-19 Centre in Maputo City and also is part of the Scientific and Technical Commitee for Prevention and Response to COVID-19.
