Asian Stigma 2023

The Asian Stigma & Discrimination Forum 2023 took place on 8 June 2023 at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre prior to APACC 2023.

The Asian Stigma & Discrimination Forum 2023 is an educational program of highly interactive half-day program on strategies to reduce stigma and discrimination experienced by PLWHIV. The program targets all relevant stakeholders, such as healthcare providers, community advocates, and policymakers.  

The lectures reflect on region-specific aspects of the HIV epidemic, national policies, guidelines, and societal context. They include community healthcare perspectives of HIV-related stigma and discrimination, as well as national plans/programs for the implementation of strategies to eliminate these major issues for PLWHIV. The format offers opportunities to discuss and share experiences relevant in particular to the local and regional settings.

CME Accreditation
The Asian Stigma & Discrimination Forum 2023, Singapore, 08/06/2023, has been accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME®) for a maximum of 2 European CME credits (ECMEC®s). Each medical specialist should claim only those credits that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.

Through an agreement between the Union Européenne des Médecins Spécialistes and the American Medical Association, physicians may convert EACCME® credits to an equivalent number of AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Information on the process to convert EACCME® credit to AMA credit can be found at www.ama-assn.org/education/earn-credit-participation-international-activities.

Live educational activities, occurring outside of Canada, recognized by the UEMS-EACCME® for ECMEC®s are deemed to be Accredited Group Learning Activities (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

• Summarize key strategies for the elimination of stigma and discrimination;
• Discuss the impact of stigma and discrimination on prevention and treatment strategies;
• Strengthen the HIV care cascade, focusing on local solutions to fight stigma and discrimination

The Asian Stigma & Discrimination Forum 2023 will take place at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre (1 Raffles Boulevard Singapore 039593).

All participants are requested to wear the badge at all times during the forum to ensure admission to the meeting.

All presentations will be posted here as soon as possible after the workshop is finished, provided the speaker has given permission to do so.

Any participant who is found to have exhibited any inappropriate conduct or behavior against others may be removed from the program.

*Registration is free for the following participants: NGO Representatives, Advocates, Community Representatives, Policy Makers/ Government Representatives or Healthcare Professionals. Healthcare practitioners are defined as professionals that provide any type of health care service to patients living with HIV or other diseases.

Cancellation Policy
In case of cancellation, the following refunds are applicable:

- Cancellation before/on 7 May 2023: 50% refund (minus an administration fee of €40)

- Cancellation after 7 May 2023: Unfortunately, no refund will be given

If you are unable to attend the forum, a substitute delegate is always welcome at no extra charge, provided that a letter of authorization from the original participant has been received and the conference secretariat has been notified of the name of the substitute delegate before 24 May 2023. A statement (email/letter) of cancellation must be sent to Virology Education.
Liability and Insurance

Media Registration
In order to register as a media participant for the forum, the conference secretariat needs to receive:

1. Proof of accreditation
2. Valid identification (e.g. passport)
3. A letter from your assignment giver stating the details of your assignment (e.g. editor)
4. At least 3 previous written assignments in recognized outlets on HIV. If you are a freelance journalist, the assignments can be from different (recognizable) news outlets. Links to online publications are accepted
5. The website of the publication(s)/blog(s) that will be featuring your story on this forum

A free or reduced registration fee may apply for accredited media participants depending on availability. Preference will be given to credible print and online news sources. Please contact the conference secretariat for registration conditions.

We would like to receive a copy of your workshop report/ article once it is finalized.
All credentials will be verified by the Organizing Committee of the Forum. Media representatives are kindly requested to register by sending the above-mentioned information to info@amededu.com.

Important: Media is restricted to the written press. Recording on film or photo is not allowed. Virology Education will request a copy of the written piece once it is finalized. Media representatives must also agree to abide by the 2020 embargo policy.
