Biography

Prof. Francesco Paolo Russo received his MD in 1997 and completed his specialization in Gastroenterology in 2002, both at the University of Padua. His academic journey was further enriched by a PhD in Hepatological Sciences, during which he conducted research on liver regeneration and fibrosis at international research centers such as Imperial College London and Cancer Research UK in London.

These experiences contributed to the attainment of prestigious academic and scientific recognitions, including the “Rising Star in Gastroenterology” award from United European Gastroenterology and the prestigious “Sheila Sherlock Fellowship” granted by EASL. He is currently an Associate Professor of Gastroenterology and a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Padua University Hospital, where he holds a High Specialization Appointment in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Acute and Chronic Liver Diseases. He also holds the Honorary Certificate in Transplant Hepatology awarded by UEMS and AISF. Alongside his clinical and academic roles, Prof. Russo has held several important institutional positions in the scientific, academic, and educational fields. Since November 2022, he has been serving as External Affairs Councilor on the EASL Governing Board.
