Biography
Dr. Po Lin Chan is a public health physician and global health leader with nearly three decades of experience across Africa, South East Asia, and the Western Pacific. She currently serves as the Unit Lead for HIV, Hepatitis, STIs, EMTCT and TB at the World Health Organization South East Asia Regional Office (SEARO). Throughout her career, she has focused on accelerating disease elimination, strengthening health systems, and fostering multisectoral and community partnerships to achieve sustainable public health impact.
Dr. Chan played a pivotal role in shaping India’s national HIV/STI programme, contributing to its transition toward evidence driven, community centred prevention and treatment approaches. She has also been instrumental in pioneering and advancing the Triple Elimination initiative, which aims to eliminate mother to child transmission of HIV, syphilis and hepatitis B. Her leadership in China and across the Asia Pacific has significantly improved access to affordable hepatitis B and C treatment, influencing large scale public health outcomes in both the South East Asia and Western Pacific regions.
An active contributor to scientific literature, Dr. Chan has published extensively on HIV, viral hepatitis, implementation science, and translating policy into operational practice. She remains committed to collaborative action, systems thinking, and data driven decision making to advance Health for All.
