Biography
Dr. Riziki Kisonga is a Senior Infectious Diseases Specialist with more than 16 years of experience managing infectious diseases, particularly TB, TB/HIV, and non-communicable diseases. He has extensive expertise in conducting clinical trials and operational research. For seven years, he held a leadership role at the National Center for Drug-Resistant TB, a designated Center of Excellence in Tanzania, where he built a strong managerial track record.
He led the development of a national research agenda and established a multidisciplinary research team at the National Infectious Diseases Hospital. Throughout his career, Dr. Kisonga has served as a lead or co-investigator on multiple research projects and has been actively engaged in national and international research networks and technical working groups. He has also provided mentorship to junior researchers across various institutions.
Dr. Kisonga brings strong managerial and leadership experience from his role as Program Manager for the National TB and Leprosy Program at the Ministry of Health, where he oversaw national efforts in TB and leprosy control and prevention.
