Biography

Shaibu Issa is a Tanzanian global hepatitis advocate and public health leader with lived experience of chronic hepatitis B. He is the Founder and Executive Director of Tanzania Health Alliance (THA), advancing viral hepatitis, HIV and mental health, through advocacy, community engagement, research, and partnerships.

He serves as an African Regional Board Member of the World Hepatitis Alliance (2025–2027), Member of the Hepatitis B Foundation Global Community Advisory Board, Steering Committee Member of the International Liver Cancer Movement, and Patient Advocate with the AASLD Patient Advisory Group. He was recognized as a 2025 Hepatitis Elimination Champion by the Coalition for Global Hepatitis Elimination.

Shaibu advocates globally for equitable access to hepatitis prevention, testing, treatment, liver cancer care, and the elimination of stigma and discrimination.
