Biography

My name is Dr Yohannes Birhanu Gebremeskel.

I have undergone my undergraduate , postgraduate and sub speciality training at Addis Ababa University.

I am an Internist, Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist with 12 years of experience in the field of gastroenterology and hepatology. I am currently working at Addis Ababa University, College of health sciences, School of medicine with a post of Assistant professor. I have served as Head of GI Hepatology at AAU for two years and I am actively engaged in teaching undergraduate , post graduate and sub speciality students at the University. I am also a partner and head of the Gastroenterology and Hepatology department at Lancet General Hospital, which is the largest private owned tertiary hospital in Ethiopia. After successfully completing a scholarship training in advanced research methodology given by Emory University in collaboration with AAU, I have become an active researcher and have so far published more than 15 papers in reputable journals.

I am one of the finding members of Ethiopian Gastroenterology Association (EGA) and have also in the past served as a secretary and counsel member in the association.
