Biography
Dr. Azola is a specialist in physical and rehabilitation medicine, focusing on the interdisciplinary care of patients with complex chronic conditions, with a particular emphasis on Long COVID, myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS), and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS). She serves as faculty in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Pediatrics at Johns Hopkins University, where she co-founded the Post-Acute COVID-19 Team (PACT) in 2020 to address the urgent need for coordinated outpatient care of individuals experiencing persistent symptoms following SARS-CoV-2 infection.
Dr. Azola’s clinical practice emphasizes comprehensive assessment, functional restoration, and patient-centered management in the context of limited evidence-based guidelines. She has contributed to advancing the understanding of post-exertional malaise, autonomic dysfunction, and overlapping post-infectious syndromes.
