Biography
Dr Alena Kamenshchikova is an Assistant professor in Medical Sociology at Maastricht University, the Netherlands. Her work focuses on infectious disease control practices among both communities and health professionals with specific focus on health inequities in the context of cross-border infectious disease control and migrant health. She works with transdisciplinary methods, including qualitative and visual methods, to engage with diverse participants and translate her research insights into practices around equitable access to care.
In 2022-2024, she worked as a consultant for the Department of Global HIV, Hepatitis and Sexually Transmitted Infections Programmes of the World Health Organisation.
She is a member of the WHO Collaborating Centre Regions for Health and Cross-Border Public Health based at Maastricht University, the Netherlands.
