Biography

Dr. Alexa Mousley is a post-doctoral Research Associate in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Cambridge, England, United Kingdom. Dr. Mousley recently completed her PhD, supported by the Gates Cambridge Scholarship, exploring how structural connections in the brain form in infancy and refine across the lifespan. Her paper, 'Topological turning points across the human lifespan,' recently gained worldwide media attention for its impact on our understanding of healthy ageing and developmental phases. A stand-out finding of the study is that the adolescence phase of structural brain rewiring continues until about 32 years old. Dr. Mousley continues to work on understanding brain connection refinement, especially in the context of exploring adverse experiences and their impact on the structure of the adolescent brain.
