Biography

Alice N. Guingane is a hepatogastroenterologist at the Bogodogo University Hospital Center in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. She obtained her medical degree in Ouagadougou and her master's degree in public health in Marseille, France.

She is currently a teacher at the University of Ouagadougou (UJKZ) and a PHD student at the University of Montpellier France. Her research activities are mainly focused on the prevention and management of viral hepatitis in pregnant women. She is an assistant researcher at the Burkinabé Society of Hepatogastroenterology. She is also a permanent member of the plenary session of AC45 “clinical research on viral hepatitis” and of the “screening-prevention” sub-working group.

Since 2016, she has been working with the National Agency for Research on AIDS and Viral Hepatitis (ANRS) on projects such as: ANRS 12359 which aims to prevent mother-to-child transmission of the hepatitis B virus and REVERSO which aims to understand the reasons for the high prevalence of HCV in the southwest of Burkian Faso.

On a daily basis, she manages a cohort of more than 1,500 pregnant women infected with the hepatitis B virus at the Bogodogo University Hospital Center in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
