Biography

Angella Nyagacuhi Githere-Langat is a Kenyan public health professional and health systems leader with over two decades of experience across public service and international non-governmental organizations. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Health Systems Management at Kenya Methodist University and holds an MSc in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, as well as a Master’s degree in Sociology of Work and Development from Université Paris X Nanterre.

She has held senior leadership roles at the National Syndemic Diseases Control Council and currently serves as Director, overseeing partnerships, planning, resource mobilisation, risk management, and grants management. She previously led the Beyond Zero Initiative as a national advocacy platform supporting the elimination of vertical transmission of HIV through strengthened antenatal care attendance, routine HIV testing, timely initiation of antiretroviral therapy, and improved retention across the prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) cascade. During this period, national mother-to-child transmission rates declined.

Her research and policy interests focus on health systems and HIV financing. She is a published contributor to leading journals, including The Lancet Global Health, Nature, and the International Journal of Health Policy and Management.

She is a recipient of the Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear (M.B.S.), a national honour awarded by the Government of Kenya in recognition of distinguished public service.
