Biography
Dr. Antonio Carlos Bandeira is an Infectious Diseases board certified Medical Doctor and associate professor at FTC Medical School, Salvador,Brazil.
He is the current Head of the Arbovirus Committee of the Brazilian Society of Infectious and has been researching in different areas of the infectious diseases field for nearly 20 years.
His main contributions are related Dengue, Zika, and Chikungunya virus infections in Brazil. He participated in the article that first described the presence of Zika virus in Brazil, the occurrence of co-infections Zika/Chikungunya/Dengue, the presence of Chikungunya in semen and in breast milk, and the first description of neonatal encephalitis due to Chikungunya infection in Brazil.
