Biography
Aya Sugiyama is an epidemiology researcher specializing in population-based studies on viral hepatitis. She is a member of the Viral Hepatitis Epidemiology Research Group funded by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW), Japan, led by Professor Junko Tanaka. In this role, she contributes to national and international investigations that advance the understanding of hepatitis virus transmission and burden. Her work includes epidemiological studies on HBV mother-to-child transmission in Japan and collaborative field research in Cambodia and Burkina Faso. She is engaged in project coordination and data analysis, supporting the generation of evidence that informs hepatitis prevention and control efforts.
