Biography

Benyam Addissie is an associate professor of medicine and a transplant hepatologist at the University of Rochester. He studied medicine at Meharry Medical College in Tennessee and completed fellowships in gastroenterology and transplant hepatology at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. He was the associate program director for GI fellowship at Geisinger Health for several years before joining the University of Rochester two years ago, where he now leads their transplant oncology team. His clinical and academic interests include the screening and prevention of complications of advanced liver disease, such as hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma. He is passionate about medical education, as well as academic and clinical cooperation across specialties and international borders.
