Biography

Chari Cohen is President of the Hepatitis B Foundation. She conducts research and implements programs to reduce health disparities and improve health outcomes associated with hepatitis B, hepatitis D, and liver cancer. Dr. Cohen is co-chair of the Hep B United coalition, co-founder and chair of Hep B United Philadelphia, co-founder and chair of CHIPO: Coalition Against Hepatitis for People of African Origin; and former co-chair of the Hep Free PA coalition. She is a member of the ICE-HBV, HBV Forum for Collaborative Research, and Long Acting/Extended Release Antiretroviral Resource Program (LEAP) steering committees, Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center (SKCC) Community Advisory Board (CAB), and HepVu advisory committee. Dr. Cohen served on the 2024 World Health Organization (WHO) committee for Guidelines for the Prevention, Diagnosis, Care and Treatment for People with Chronic Hepatitis B Infection. Dr. Cohen is Professor of Public Health at the Baruch S. Blumberg Institute. She received her DrPH in Community Health and Prevention from Drexel University and MPH from Temple University.
