Biography

Chukwuemeka Agwuocha is Senior Program Manager, Infectious Diseases and Integration, at the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) Nigeria, a public health and access-to-medicines specialist with over 15 years' experience in program design and management, market shaping and price negotiation, service-delivery integration, and federal and state stakeholder coordination. He leads CHAI Nigeria's viral hepatitis, Global Fund Accelerator, integrated disease and lead exposure portfolios, and engages the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, the Global Fund, implementing partners and civil society to align RSSH investments with national priorities. He established CHAI Nigeria's hepatitis program and, on that foundation, designed and piloted the Nasarawa State viral hepatitis elimination program, led the negotiation with Viatris Pharmaceutical that cut curative hepatitis C treatment costs by over 95 percent (USD 1,350 to USD 60 per regimen) and was extended nationally, secured over 70 percent reductions on direct-acting antivirals and 14 percent on Cepheid diagnostics, and successfully advocated for viral hepatitis services in the National Health Insurance benefits package. He also led Nigeria's RSSH impact evaluation informing Global Fund Grant Cycle 8 and established CHAI Nigeria's lead exposure program. He holds an MSc in Public Health and a PGDip in Business Administration.
