Biography

Courtney V. Fletcher, Pharm.D., received his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy, with honors, from the University of Wyoming, Laramie, Wyoming, and his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Dr. Fletcher is currently Professor of Pharmacy Practice and Infectious Diseases in the Colleges of Pharmacy and Medicine and Director of the Antiviral Pharmacology Laboratory, UNMC Center for Drug Discovery, University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). Dr. Fletcher served as dean of the UNMC College of Pharmacy between November 2007 to January 2019 and has previously held faculty and leadership positions at the School of Pharmacy, University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, University of Minnesota, and Drake University.

Dr. Fletcher has devoted his research and practice interests to the clinical pharmacology of antiviral agents. He has authored or coauthored more than 230 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals, 28 book chapters and more than 180 research papers for presentation at national and international scientific meetings. Dr. Fletcher has been continuously funded, as a principal investigator, by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), since 1993 to the present. Dr. Fletcher has supervised the education of 14 post-doctoral fellows, and supervised or co-supervised the educational programs of 14 graduate students.

Dr. Fletcher has served as a member of the FDA Antiviral Drug Advisory Committee, the AIDS Discovery and Development of Therapeutics Study Section, NIH, and the United States Department of Health and Human Services Panel on Clinical Practices for the Treatment of HIV Infection. Currently, Dr. Fletcher is a member of the NIH Office of AIDS Research Advisory Council (OARAC). Dr. Fletcher is an elected Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
