Biography
Dr. Cristina Barroso Hofer is a Professor of Infectious Diseases at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Brazil. She has worked in the field of pediatric and perinatal HIV for over two decades.
Dr. Hofer is a member of the Brazilian Advisory Committee on Pediatric, Adolescent, and Perinatal AIDS within the National AIDS Program. She also serves on the Therapeutics Scientific Committee of the International Maternal Pediatric Adolescent AIDS Clinical Trials (IMPAACT) Network, the Network and Engagement Committee, and the Congenital and Perinatal Infections Working Group of the PENTA-ID Network, as well as the Congenital Infections Working Group of the Brazilian Society of Infectious Diseases.
At UFRJ, Dr. Hofer leads the Clinical Trials Unit and has participated in multiple phase I to III studies focused on the treatment and prevention of HIV-1 and other congenital infections.
