Biography
Dr. Muljono is a clinician and biomedical researcher with expertise n internal medicine and hepatology. He earned his medical degree and specialist training from Airlangga University, Indonesia, and the University of Sydney, Australia, and a PhD at Jichi Medical School, Japan. For over 20 years, he has been a senior scientist in viral hepatitis at the Eijkman Institute, supervising international postgraduate programs, publishing widely, and editing and reviewing global journals. He is Honorary Professor at Sydney Medical School, Australia, and Endowed Professor at Universitas Hasanuddin, Indonesia.
His public health work includes participation in the WHO Pilot Project on Universal Neonatal Hepatitis B Immunization in Lombok, Indonesia, and involvement in the preparation team for the WHA Resolution on Viral Hepatitis as an Indonesian delegate at the 2010 World Health Assembly session. He is currently a member of WHO’s Expert Committee for Biological Standardization and chairs Indonesia’s Viral Hepatitis Expert Committee.
He received Ronpaku Gold Medal from the Japanese Society for the Promotion of Science for discovering Transfusion Transmissible Virus in Indonesia, Ksatria Bakti Husada as the highest distinction award in health from the Indonesian Minister of Health, and Satya Lencana Karya Bakti XXX from the Indonesian President for continuous public service.
