Biography

David van de Vijver is an associate professor at the viroscience department of Erasmus University Medical Centre in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. He received a PharmD and PhD from Utrecht University, the Netherlands.

Dr van de Vijver research sits at the intersection of quantitative science and infectious disease, with a focus on the prevention, treatment, and diagnostics of HIV. Drawing on statistical modeling, machine learning, and pharmacological expertise, his work places particular emphasis on antiretroviral drugs and resistance.

Dr van de Vijver has served as Principal Investigator of an NIH-funded R01 grant investigating resistance to dolutegravir. He advises the World Health Organization (WHO) on HIV drug resistance, contributing to global surveillance and treatment guidelines. His research has been published in leading journals including Nature Communications, various Lancet journals, and Eurosurveillance.
