Biography

Dorothy Dow, MD, MSc is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Global Health Research at Duke University and the Duke Global Health Institute. Dr. Dow lives and works full time in Moshi, Tanzania where she co-leads the Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre-Duke Collaboration. Her research focuses on prevention and treatment of HIV in pediatric populations with a special focus on adolescent and young adults and the intersection of antiretroviral adherence and mental health. Dr. Dow is co-developer of Sauti ya Vijana (SYV, The Voice of Youth), a mental health and life skills intervention designed with and for young people with HIV in Tanzania to improve HIV and mental health outcomes. She is a member of the Adolescent HIV Implementation Science Alliance and leads a local Tanzanian alliance. She is co-director of the Duke Center for AIDS Research Clinical Core and she is chair of IMPAACT Network Protocol 2016, evaluating a group-based intervention to improve mental health and ART adherence among youth living with HIV in low resource settings.
