Biography

Dr. Errol L. Fields, MD, PhD, MPH, is Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland, United States. He is a board-certified pediatrician and adolescent medicine subspecialist whose clinical and research work focuses on HIV and sexually transmitted infection prevention and treatment among adolescents and young adults disproportionately affected by HIV, particularly young Black men.

His research addresses racial and geographic disparities in HIV outcomes using mixed-methods and community-based participatory approaches to improve HIV testing, PrEP uptake, treatment adherence, and sustained engagement in care. He has led and collaborated on studies developing and evaluating culturally grounded, community-responsive interventions that reduce HIV-related stigma and strengthen prevention and treatment behaviors among youth.

Dr. Fields has extensive experience conducting qualitative and mixed-methods research, designing IRB-approved protocols involving minors and young adults, and building academic–community partnerships to reach populations most impacted by HIV. He also contributes to adolescent HIV and sexual health education and fellowship training.
