Biography

Fabienne Adriaanse earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Biomedical Sciences at Maastricht University, where she specialized in oncology and developmental biology. Her research included projects on cancer-related biological pathways, conducted both in Maastricht and at the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg.

In 2017, she started her PhD at Erasmus MC and conducted much of her research at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, USA, later continuing at the Princess Máxima Center for Pediatric Oncology in Utrecht. Her doctoral work focused on the aberrant expression of HOX genes in high-risk pediatric acute leukemias, which she will defend in early 2026.

Fabienne Adriaanse joined Virology Education/Academic Medical Education in 2025 as a Scientific Manager, where she develops and coordinates scientific and educational programs in oncology and infectious diseases.
