Biography

Professor Heidi Drummer is the Scientific Director for Research Translation at the Burnet Institute, where she provides strategic leadership across translational activities spanning all health programs and Burnet Initiatives and is Scientific Director for the Burnet Diagnostics Initiative. With over 30 years of experience in protein structure and function, Professor Drummer has made significant contributions to the field of viral hepatitis, particularly in vaccine development and, more recently, in the development of point-of-care assays for the detection of elevated levels of the key liver enzyme, ALT. Professor Drummer works closely with Burnet’s Commercialization and Research Translation team to shape and communicate scientific and public health strategy, ensuring research outcomes are translated into real-world solutions that improve health globally.
