Biography
Mr. I-Ming Parng has served as Deputy Director General of the National Health Insurance Administration (NHIA), Ministry of Health and Welfare, since January 2024. He plays a key role in advancing the digital transformation of Taiwan’s health system, particularly in establishing Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) standards for next-generation sequencing (NGS), cancer diagnosis applications, and pre-approval processes for cancer drugs. He has extensive experience in health technology assessment and health insurance policy, contributing to the sustainability of Taiwan’s National Health Insurance program. Previously, as Director General of the Department of Information Management at MOHW, he oversaw IT infrastructure, data governance, and cybersecurity, built the national long-term care information system, and enhanced digital resilience. He also contributed significantly to Taiwan’s COVID-19 response by enabling technology-driven healthcare services.
