Biography

John Paget has worked as an infectious disease epidemiologist for the last 30 years, first at the World Health Organization (WHO), then at the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health (SFOPH), and more recently at the Netherlands Institute for Health Services Research (Nivel), where he is employed as a Senior Scientist. He has been working on the epidemiology and surveillance of influenza and RSV in Europe since 2000.

He was the Project Leader of the European Influenza Surveillance Scheme from 2000-2008 and has been the Principal Investigator of many European and global research projects related to influenza and RSV, including several that have published burden of disease estimates. Currently, he is the Leader of two tasks within the PROMISE project (Preparing for RSV Immunization and Surveillance in Europe) and serves as the Co-Chair of the Global Influenza Initiative.
