Biography
Katlego Sechele serves as the Programmes Coordinator at the Botswana Network on Ethics, Law and HIV/AIDS (BONELA), bringing over six years of dedicated experience in advancing human rights, health equity, and policy reform. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences from the University of Botswana, with a dual concentration in Psychology and Sociology.
Her professional trajectory is defined by a profound commitment to policy advocacy, community empowerment, and the protection of vulnerable populations. Katlego’s expertise encompasses sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), gender equality, and the elimination of stigma and discrimination. She has played an instrumental role in shaping national responses to HIV and human rights, while serving as Co-Chair of the Human Rights, Gender Equality, and Community Engagement Domain within the EMTCT National Technical Working Group and currently sits on the National Stigma and Discrimination Technical Working Group.
Beyond her national contributions, Katlego is a recognised regional trainer, having equipped LGBTI-led organisations in Namibia, Mauritius, Madagascar, Lesotho, and Botswana with skills in strategic litigation and advocacy for systematic change. Through this work, she has championed human rights and social justice across Southern Africa, amplifying community voices and influencing sustainable reforms that safeguard health and dignity.
