Biography

Dr. Keith W. Crawford is a Program Officer in the Therapeutic Research Program of the Division of AIDS at NIAID/NIH. In this capacity, he oversees a portfolio of clinical and translational research grants but also develops research initiatives focused on novel antiviral therapeutics and HIV cure research.

He has had a diverse career which included translational research, clinical practice and clinical research .He worked as a clinical pharmacist in two HIV specialty clinics while a professor at Howard University College of Medicine. He worked with the AIDS Clinical Trials Group (ACTG) conducting clinical research as a visiting scientist at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He served as the Assistant Chief of Public Health Research with U.S. Military HIV Research Program (MHRP), overseeing research in the PEPFAR program in four African countries. His peer-reviewed research has been published in the leading medical and scientific research journals.

He earned a B.S. in Biology from Cornell University, a B.S. in Pharmacy from Temple University and a doctorate in Pharmacology from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He completed a residency in Clinical Pharmacy at the NIH Clinical Center and a Post-doctoral fellowship in microbial biochemistry and genetics, also at the NIH.
