Dr. Kiyohiko Izumi is a dedicated Technical Officer with extensive experience in public health and epidemiology. Currently leading the HIV, Viral Hepatitis, and STIs team at the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Office for the Western Pacific, Dr. Izumi specializes in HIV, Viral Hepatitis, STIs, TB, and other communicable diseases. With a career spanning over a decade, Dr. Izumi has held various technical positions at WHO offices in Lao PDR, the Philippines, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, and Mongolia. Dr. Izumi's expertise also includes emergency health response and communicable disease epidemiological research, having served as a Senior Research Epidemiologist at the Research Institute of Tuberculosis Japan. Dr. Izumi holds a Doctor of Philosophy from Nagasaki University Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and a Master of Public Health from Tulane University, School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.
