Biography

Leah Tshotwana, a grade 10 learner from Curro Durbanville in the Western Cape. She grew up in the dusty streets of Mandalay and comes from a family of four with herself being the oldest. Leah comes from a diverse background with her mother being a proud colored women from Mitchells plain and her father being a proud Black man from Mandalay. She has tasted both cultures and fully comprehend the obscurity people in rural settlements face. Leah has always had a great eager to change and transform rural settlements. Leah is very enthusiastic about leadership and has had the privilege of learning leadership skills through becoming a class leader. She loves to learn and teach others. Leah is an emboldened public speaker, survivor, and strong advocate. Leah has joined with others in government system change to create safer, more equitable spaces.
