Biography

Lisa C. Capaldini, MD, MPH, is a nationally respected HIV specialist with Castro Medical Group and California Pacific Medical Center, and Medical Director of a neighborhood hospice, Maitri, in San Francisco. She also serves as Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Dr Capaldini received her medical degree from UCSF and master's degree in public health from the University of California, Berkeley. She completed her primary care internal medicine residnecy through UCSF and San Francisco General Hospital. Widely acknowledged as a patient-oriented clinician, Dr Capaldini focuses on translating medical advances into individualized customized care, linking the science of medicine with the art of medicine. She has authored articles that have been published in peer-reviewed journals such as AIDS Treatment News, Bulletin of Experimental Treatments for AIDS (BETA), and Western Journal of Medicine. Dr Capaldini has received several honors, including community service awards and being made an honorary nurse practitioner by the UCSF School of Nursing. She is board-certified in internal medicine and has been in practice for more than 20 years.
