Biography

Mayu Kono is a Program Officer in Health Team 3, Health Group 2, Human Development Department at the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). She works in a team responsible for health sector projects in Southeast Asia and the Pacific and is involved in project management for programs in Viet Nam, Malaysia, and Papua New Guinea.

Since joining her current team in April 2024, she has been engaged in the “Project for Improving the Prevention and Control of Viral Hepatitis in Viet Nam,” contributing from the initial project design phase through implementation and monitoring.

Prior to joining JICA, she worked at a Japanese pharmaceutical company, where she gained practical experience in the healthcare field. Building on this background, she is currently involved in supporting efforts to address health challenges and strengthen health systems in developing countries.

She holds an MA in Social Development from the University of Sussex and a bachelor’s degree in Foreign Studies (Global Competency Program) from Sophia University.
