Biography
Michael R. Jordan, MD, MPH, FIDSA, serves as Associate Vice President for Health Services for Tufts University. He is Professor of Medicine and Professor of Public Health and Community Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine. Professor Jordan also holds an honorary Researcher appointment at the Portuguese Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Lisbon, Portugal.
Professor Jordan is an internationally recognized expert in HIV drug resistance, public health surveillance epidemiology, HIV clinical care and treatment, and antiretroviral therapy (ART) program monitoring and evaluation. His research focuses on emerging pathogens and outbreak response; the development and implementation of population-level surveillance strategies for HIV drug resistance in resource-limited settings scaling up ART; strategies to optimize the quality and performance of ART service delivery; and rigorous approaches to assessing adherence among individuals receiving pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV prevention.
Professor Jordan works closely as an advisor and consultant to the World Health Organization and Ministries of Health worldwide. He serves on the Scientific Committee of the International Workshop on HIV Drug Resistance and Treatment Strategies and is a former Co-Chair of the WHO HIVResNet HIV Drug Resistance Surveillance and Monitoring Working Group.
