Biography

Dr. Mitch Matoga is a physician-scientist at the University of North Carolina (UNC) Project Malawi. He is the Director of Research and Clinical Services for the STI program and the Reproductive and Sexual Health clinic at UNC Project Malawi, and the Co-Chair of the STI Science Committee for the HIV Prevention Trials Network (HPTN). His work intersects between HIV prevention, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and implementation science mostly focusing on HIV prevention among STI patients, and treatment and prevention of STIs such as Neisseria gonorrhea, Treponema pallidum, Chlamydia trachomatis, Haemophilus ducreyi, Mycoplasma genitalium among others.
