Prof. Nadia Adjoa Sam is a Professor of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the University of Minnesota Medical School (USA). She is also the Senior Technical Advisor for Pediatric and Adolescent HIV at the Institute of Human Virology Nigeria and a faculty of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health at the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.
Prof. Sam's professional portfolio spans clinical medicine, public health and research, and she provides mentoring, leadership, advocacy and policy contributions across these areas. Her research focuses on the prevention and treatment of major infectious diseases among children and adolescents in African countries. Prof. Sam's work involves applying both qualitative and quantitative methods to identify and equitably address health issues in populations of interest.
Her largest research portfolio is in implementation science and HIV, particularly in Nigeria and Ghana. She has been funded by sponsors such as the WHO, US National Institutes of Health, American Academy of Pediatrics and Wellcome Trust. Prof. Sam is a member of the NIH Adolescent HIV Prevention and Treatment Implementation Science Alliance (AHISA), the Nigeria Implementation Science Alliance (NISA), and leads the Central and West Africa Implementation Science Alliance (CAWISA). She is also a member and co-chair of the WHO Adolescent HIV Service Delivery Technical Working Group, and a member of the WHO Pediatric Antiretroviral Working Group.
