Biography
Nelson Juma Otwoma is currently the Director, National Empowerment Network for People living with HIV/AIDS in Kenya (NEPHAK) and; works to provide strategic, accountable and professional leadership to enhance the voice and visibility of people living with HIV and those affected by TB and AIDS. He serves in a number of national health, HIV and TB coordination and management bodies and structures, including the Kenya differentiated service delivery (DSD) and the HIV Service Delivery Integration Technical Working Groups (TWGs); the Advanced HIV Disease (AHD) Sub-Committee; TB Health Sector Working Group (HSWG) as well as the Laboratories and Diagnostics TWG.
He has been the National Coordinator of the PLHIV Stigma Index 2.0 since 2014 and now works to coordinate and roll-out Community Led Monitoring among CSOs and communities in Kenya. Among other interest, Nelson is keen to ensure that boys and men and especially those living with HIV are not left behind in the response to HIV. He has been member of the the UNAIDS and WHO Global Men and HIV Working Group (MENHT) joining others to advance the interests and needs of boys and men in the health and HIV spheres. He recently joined the UNAIDS Monitoring Technical Advisory Group (MTAG).
