Biography

Dr. Nicolas Chomont is a Professor in the Department of Microbiology, Infectious Diseases, and Immunology at the Université de Montréal (Canada) and a researcher at the CHUM Research Centre.

He completed his PhD at the University of Paris in 2004, where he studied the cellular mechanisms involved in HIV sexual transmission. During his postdoctoral research at Université de Montréal, Dr. Chomont identified the specific types of memory T cells responsible for the persistence of HIV in individuals on antiretroviral therapy. His current research focuses on understanding the mechanisms that drive HIV persistence and developing innovative therapeutic strategies to eradicate the virus.

Dr. Chomont is the Lead Investigator of CanCURE, a CIHR-funded team of Canadian researchers, clinicians, and community representatives dedicated to developing a safe, effective, and scalable cure for HIV.
