Biography

Nozizwe is a queer feminist committed to advancing social justice, equity, and human rights, with a strong focus on the holistic empowerment of marginalised communities across Africa. She is a lawyer, human rights activist, socio-legal researcher, movement builder, and advocacy strategist. Her academic background includes an LLM in Human Rights and Democratisation in Africa from the University of Pretoria’s Centre for Human Rights, an LLB from the University of Botswana, and a Project Management certification from the University of Cape Town.

With years of experience working alongside grassroots, regional, and international organisations, Nozizwe has consistently championed the rights of LGBTI+ persons, strengthened civil society networks, and built sustainable capacities within social justice movements. She sees research and knowledge production as essential advocacy tools, enabling inclusive, evidence-based strategies that respond to the realities of diverse communities.

Her work is deeply informed by the principles of intersectionality and Ubuntu, grounding her leadership in both feminist praxis and African values of humanity and community. Nozizwe currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Lesbians, Gays, and Bisexuals of Botswana (LEGABIBO), where she continues to advance advocacy for equality, inclusion, and the full recognition of human rights.
