Biography
Dr. Pallav Bhattacharya is presently the Member Advisor to the State Task Force on Triple Elimination of Vertical Transmission of Hepatitis B, Syphilis and HIV. He is an eminent Public Health Professional from Kolkata with over 30 years of experience in the arena. He has had a long stint in the West Bengal Public Health & Administrative Services. He has led multiple disease control programs at State and National Levels.
Dr. Bhattacharya has contributed to the evolution of the HIV/AIDS Control Program, Adolescent Health, RBSK and NVHCP in West Bengal and India. His work in establishing a robust viral hepatitis management network under NVHCP has been appreciated at national and international levels. Under his able leadership, West Bengal became the first state in India and the neighborhood to implement the ‘Triple Elimination of Vertical Transmission of HIV, Syphilis & Hepatitis B’ program.
He has authored multiple publications related to the implementation of public health programs targeted for ‘evidence generation followed by appropriate action’.
A recipient of numerous awards, is the co-author of the India chapter of ‘Viral Hepatitis in Asia and the Pacific-Towards Elimination as a Public Health Threat’.
