Biography

General Coordinator for the Surveillance of Sexually Transmitted Infections at the Ministry of Health of Brazil. She is a Pharmaceutical Biochemist with a Master's degree in Pharmacy and a PhD in Public Health. She leads the development and implementation of national policies on sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and the elimination of vertical transmission of HIV, syphilis, viral hepatitis, and HTLV in Brazil. Her work includes the development of clinical guidelines, implementation of innovative diagnostic technologies within the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS), Neisseria gonorrhoeae antimicrobial resistance surveillance, and strengthening STI surveillance and prevention strategies. Dr Pâmela has contributed to international guideline development groups and expert advisory committees on HIV testing, syphilis, gonorrhoea, HTLV, and multiplex testing. Her research and professional interests include implementation science, diagnostic innovation, STI prevention and control, and maternal and child health.
