Biography

A/Prof. Phumla Sinxadi (MBChB, DA, MMed, PhD) is a clinical pharmacologist and Head of the Division of Clinical Pharmacology in the Department of Medicine at the University of Cape Town (UCT). She also serves as Deputy Director of the SAMRC/UCT Platform for Pharmacogenomics Research & Translation. With over a decade of experience, she teaches undergraduate pharmacology to medical students and contributes to postgraduate teaching and supervision. A National Research Foundation C2-rated scientist, her research focuses on the pharmacogenomics of antiretrovirals, particularly the relationships between drug concentrations, treatment response, and toxicity, as well as the role of genetic variation in drug exposure and outcomes.
