Biography

Prof. Raph Hamers is a consultant infectious diseases physician and clinical researcher based at the Oxford University Clinical Research Unit (OUCRU) Indonesia, where he currently serves as the Interim Director. He trained at the Amsterdam University Medical Centers, University of Amsterdam. He has extensive experience as a lead investigator on clinical trials and implementation research, with a particular emphasis on pragmatic and patient-centred approaches to treatment and care in low- and middle-income countries. His research has focused on prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of HIV, antimicrobial resistance and stewardship, and emerging infectious diseases relevant to Indonesia and the region. His research aims to bridge clinical science, health systems, and public health implementation to generate evidence that can directly inform national and global policy. He has been awarded an Associate Professorship at the Nuffield Department of Medicine, University of Oxford, and an Adjunct Professorship at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia. He has published over 175 papers.
